Spokane's Airport Ease | 20+ Direct Flights from GEG, Quick Airport Access & More

Living in Spokane has its perks, and I think one of the most underrated is the sheer convenience of Spokane International Airport (GEG). Whether you're a frequent flyer or an occasional traveler, the Spokane International Airport offers a relatively stress-free experience that’s hard to beat. As someone who frequently travels for both business and play, I can confidently say that Spokane’s airport makes getting in and out of town a breeze.

What makes it so convenient? Let's dive in.

Easy Airport Access: GEG is 10 Minutes from Downtown Spokane

One of the standout perks of Spokane International Airport is its proximity to downtown. Located just about 7 miles west-southwest of the city center, you can typically reach the airport in under 15 minutes from many (if not most) Spokane neighborhoods and within 10 minutes from downtown. The drive is straightforward, easily accessed from I-90 and with minimal traffic congestion, making it easy to plan for your departure without unpredictable delays.

This accessibility is a significant advantage for anyone who values their time, i.e. everyone!  Whether you're heading out for a weekend getaway or catching a flight for a business trip, the short commute means you can spend more time doing and less time en route.

Short Security Lines & Quick Boarding

Another aspect that sets GEG apart is the ease of its security and boarding processes. Unlike larger airports where long lines are the norm and additional clearances or procedures like Spot Saver, Clear, TSA Pre-check and more feel essential, Spokane International Airport typically offers short wait times at security checkpoints. Arriving 1.5 hours before your flight is usually sufficient to get through security and to your gate with time to spare.

Inside scoop: It's worth noting that during peak times, and from my experience particularly weekday mornings between 6 and 8 a.m. flight times, lines can be longer. If you're flying during these hours, it's advisable to allow a bit of extra time to ensure a smooth experience.

With SO many daily, 50-minute flights to Seattle, popping over for a concert is no biggie.  And, on the way home, make sure to use SpotSaver!

Simple Terminal Layout: A, B, and C Concourses

Navigating GEG is truly straightforward, thanks to its simple terminal design. The airport has three concourses—A, B, and C—all of which are located within a single terminal building. This compact layout means that even if you're unfamiliar with the airport, finding your gate is a pretty easy experience.

Each concourse serves specific airlines:

  • Concourse A: Allegiant, American, Southwest, Sun Country
  • Concourse B: Delta, United
  • Concourse C: Alaska
